Having a high or low self-esteem depends on many factors including different life situations including different people. However, if you wish to succeed in life, you must keep up with a high self-esteem.

People who have a high self-esteem tend to follow a set of strong principles and values in life. These principles might include several values such as honesty, trust, openness, friendliness, transparency, integrity or providing value to others. These values become a roadmap for their life.

2# Self Love

High self-esteem is people lead to them loving themselves, which encourages them to treat themselves with respect and the best options available. This self-love encourages them to look at themselves in the mirror and feel confident and happy in themselves. The way you would treat a person you love, is the same way someone with high self-esteem will love themselves.

3# Self Belief

People with a high-self esteem have confidence in their own abilities and believe themselves and their actions. They know what they are good at and are confident about those skills, unlike people with low self-esteem. They do not believe in wasting their time by indulging in negative self-talk and take responsibility of their actions by trusting their decision-making skills. They do not look for validation and approval from others, but believe in themselves.

4# Encourage Healthy Relationships

People with a high self-esteem have great communication skills and an enthusiasm to be likeable and successful in terms of relationships as well. They enjoy building a healthy relationship by accepting criticism, without letting their confidence be affected. They are not competitive in nature and are confident in their own abilities, therefore, it is easier for them to be open with others, communicate well and forgive others without putting them down.

Anyone with a high self-esteem is a leader as they focus on creating their own life path and make their own choices by judgement. They do not feel offended by other giving them suggestions as to how they should succeed or what path they should follow. They refuse to become a follower and enjoy carving their own path in the world.  They focus on creating a clear vision in their mind will using the resources and opportunities coming along their path, in the right way.

If you have a high self-esteem, you are surely one open, honest and transparent person. People with a high self-esteem always speak the truth while embracing the honesty, and have no fear of rejection or motive to harm any other person. When guilty, they always accept their mistakes and become accountable with an attitude of humility. As they are comfortable with people making jokes at them, they always see the brighter side and try using different approach in different situations. This flexible approach helps them adapt to new situations, new ways of doing things or even a new technology.

People with low self-esteem become very poor in socially communicating. Feelings of anxiety, depression or nervousness in a social setting are all characteristics of having low self-esteem.

People with a low self-esteem do not stop talking and worrying about their personal problems. Even when they are out with friends, or at a family function or with their bosses, they tend to bring up or think about their personal problems. They also find empathizing or helping people who are struggling around them as they are already preoccupied with their own problems.

Having low self-esteem can cause major issues to a human body. Starting with developing mental issues, physical issues are also a major concern. Low self-esteem can cause depression, mental stress and anxiety with leads to eating disorders such as anorexia or bulimia. It can also result in adoption of substance abuse for escape such as smoking, drinking alcohol or drug abuse.

People with a low self-esteem often lash out at small situations. Becoming overly aggressive or using defense mechanism to save themselves from embarrassment are all indication of having low self-esteem. This hostile behavior can occur when you might feel you are about to be exposed or criticized, and immediately shifting blame or criticizing others can be signs of low self-esteem.

If you low on self-esteem it is normal to be extra sensitive to criticism or any difficult situation you are facing in life. Whether you are the problem or someone else is the problem, you become extra sensitive and begin to think about your flaws while wondering about your incapability’s of performing anything right at all.

With low self-esteem, you might find yourself constantly comparing yourself with others. Be it on social media, in office or in your friend circle, you will always feel you are not good enough and that others are better than you at everything. Not feeling confident and doubting yourself while negatively comparing yourself with others is a sign of low self-esteem.
