Six Ways to Play at Your Employee’s Strengths

By JonasPosted on December 25, 2022January 4, 20233min read172 views

Satisfied and happy employees are more productive, innovative, and efficient in their roles. When you have a group of employees that are all working to their strengths, your business procedures will flow much more effortlessly. Contrary to popular belief, it is not difficult to find out what areas your employees thrive in. Once you know this basic information, you can do everything in your power to support them.

However, if you’re struggling to find the way, you have come to the right place. In this blog, we will explore six different ways you can play at your employee’s strength. Keep reading to find out how!

Take a Deep Dive into Their Personality

Before you start assigning roles, you should try to take a deep dive into the personality of each employee. One of the best ways to do so is by asking them to conduct the Myers Briggs Personality Test. For example, if you know the INTJ weaknesses and strengths, you are able to direct them more effectively.

Provide Opportunities for Training

If you want your team to continuously improve and deliver the best results, you should provide plenty of opportunities for training. If possible, you should find training workshops especially suited to the individual strengths of your employees.

Consider Cross Training Employees

Sometimes certain employees show an inclination towards a certain skill or area of the business; however, they have not fully developed this ability. In these instances, you can ask another qualified member of the team to cross train the employee. Work together to build the strongest group possible.

Focus on Clear Communication

Another way you can help your employees thrive is by focusing on clear and transparent communication. Let them know that your door is open in case they want to talk. It’s much better to address any worries as a united front than to let things boil under the surface. An open-door policy is the best way forward.

Conduct Team Building Exercises

Team building exercises are designed to improve morale, build trust, identify leaders, and discover both strengths and weaknesses. In these group scenarios, you can truly see which employees thrive in certain roles. You can apply these findings to real-life scenarios and use them to increase productivity.

Promote a Supportive Environment

Last but not least, you’ll need to promote a supportive environment. Sure, you can encourage a bit of good-hearted competition to keep everyone motivated, but make sure employees know they are working as a team. They all have the same goal, and they should help each other wherever possible.

At the end of the day, your role as a manager or boss is to create an environment in which your employees can truly thrive. If you don’t make the effort to facilitate their growth and abilities, you won’t yield the results you are looking for. Make sure to lead by example and check in with your employees on a regular basis. Take on board these tips and watch your productivity peak!
